Heritage Center Museum
Located in the heart of downtown Burlington, the Heritage Center is our flagship museum and research hub. Step inside to explore rotating exhibits, archives, and local artifacts that span everything from Native American history to river commerce and early industry. It’s also home to our genealogy research library—perfect for tracing your family roots.
Hawkeye Log Cabin
Nestled just behind the Heritage Center, this restored 1800s log cabin offers a hands-on glimpse into early pioneer life. Walk through the door and back in time—no WiFi, no electricity, just the raw, resilient spirit of Iowa’s earliest settlers.
Phelps House
Perched on the bluff with a view of the Mississippi, this stately mansion once belonged to Captain William Phelps, a prominent riverboat captain. Period furnishings and original artifacts transport you to the elegance and energy of river commerce in its heyday.
